Testing a computational model of subjective well-being: a preregistered replication of Rutledge et al. (2014)

چکیده

Subjective well-being changes over time. While the causes of these have been investigated extensively, few attempts made to capture through computational modelling. One notable exception is study by Rutledge et al. [Rutledge, R. B., Skandali, N., Dayan, P., & Dolan, J. (2014). A and neural model momentary subjective well-being. Proceedings National Academy Sciences, 111(33), 12252–12257. https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.1407535111], in which a that captures was proposed. The incorporates how an individual processes rewards punishments decision context. Using this model, authors were able successfully explain fluctuations observed gambling paradigm. Although reported in-paper replication, successful independent replication would further increase credibility their results. In paper, we report preregistered close behavioural experiment analyses results mostly confirmed, providing evidence for role fluctuations. Additionally, association between personality traits way people process examined. No such associations found, leaving open question future research.

A computational and neural model of momentary subjective well-being.

The subjective well-being or happiness of individuals is an important metric for societies. Although happiness is influenced by life circumstances and population demographics such as wealth, we know little about how the cumulative influence of daily life events are aggregated into subjective feelings. Using computational modeling, we show that emotional reactivity in the form of momentary happi...

A bifactor model of subjective well-being: A re-examination of the structure of subjective well-being

a r t i c l e i n f o The present research has aimed to extend the previous research on the structure of subjective well-being (SWB) by applying the bifactor model. The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) were administered to two large samples of Serbian young adults (N 1 = 1669, N 2 = 1522). The bifactor model of SWB with one general and th...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

A subjective well-being approach

A subjective well-being approach is followed to assess the magnitude of inefficiency in the use of income. The information comes from a Mexican survey and an X-inefficiency technique is used. The paper shows that there exists substantial inefficiency in the use of income at all income levels, even for those in income poverty. It is shown that inefficiency is significantly related to practices, ...
